From my backlist: Felicity Carrol and the Murderous Menace by Patricia Marcantonio

#FelicityCarrolAndTheMurderousMenace #NetGalley

This title follows on the first Felicity Carrol mystery which was titled Felicity Carrol and the Perilous Pursuit. It is clear, in this second title, that Felicity in no way avoids risk and peril.

This historical mystery is quite enjoyable. Readers enter Felicity’s world in 1889. She is in England as the story begins but, for complicated reasons, she heads to the U.S. where she investigates the death of a street walker. This is at the urging of a Scotland Yard inspector from the first novel. He wonders if Jack the Ripper has traveled to America. Has he? Felicity will try to find out.

Readers may well be expecting this book to be a cozy but it is a bit more substantive. I hope that one day Felicity may come back in a third adventure. She is a daring and unconventional woman of her time.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Press for this title. All opinions are my own.

This book was published in 2020.
