I love to read, recommend books and open the world of reading to others. I tutor to ensure that the next generation of readers will know the joys of a good book because their reading skills have improved. I am an avid reader, especially of mysteries and fiction. I believe that two of the world's greatest inventions were the public library and eyeglasses!
This is such a cute activity book for young children who need entertainment while traveling. The first activity is to make a driver’s license which surely will put a child in the mood for a road trip. Some of the activities include building a race track (with colored pencils, for example); Stop That Car! (where a child figures out who is speeding); Spot the Difference, Color by Numbers, Dot-to-Dot and many more.
I recommend this brightly illustrated book. It will keep a little one busy. It will also give them some time away from electronic screens.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.
This is a cookbook that promises recipes for a healthy, keto based diet. That may well be true but, importantly, it is a book filled with good sounding food. There are chapters on breakfasts, snacks, salads & soups, lunches, dinners, sides and desserts. There are also a lengthy introduction, a section on basics and another on further reading. The photos show appealing looking foods.
A few examples of the recipes; these are from the breakfast chapter. There are green spinach & salmon crepes, Turkish egg bowl, sausage-avo-egg stack and creamy cinnamon porridge, among others. These recipes look easy to follow.
For readers who are intrigued, enjoy looking at recipes for the rest of the day and more. This cookbook looks like a very good resource.

The beautiful cover of this book immediately tells the reader much that they will discover in its pages about Ru Paul. Kids learn that, as a child, Ru Paul found joy wearing what were traditionally called women’s clothing. Ru Paul knew that this was okay, that it was possible to be one’s unique self. Ru Paul’s mom expressed this well. She told a young Ru Paul that she believed in the importance of Ru Paul knowing and loving the person inside. This is how Ru Paul lived.
That is the message of this book, and it is one for all children. It will be empowering to those who feel “different” and equally important for those who could benefit from gently learning that it is important to accept others as they are. Readers will learn about how Ru Paul grew up to make a difference.
This title is an excellent addition to this series. It comes highly recommended.

Jeffrey Archer is a prolific writer. Here readers can spend time with his Detective William Warwick in the third entry in this series. The book can be read without having read the first two titles but readers may well want to take a look at those as well.
There are several intriguing plot strands in this novel. One has to do with an undercover investigation that becomes complicated by the personal relationships that are involved. This hits close to home for those involved.
Also in this story is the trial of a drug baron. This case also comes very close to Warwick because his father and sister are involved in the prosecution. And then there is the friendship in which Warwick’s wife gets involved.
Sound like a lot? Luckily Archer is an experienced author who is well able to hold all of the plot lines together.

Farewell My Herring is the ninth entry in L.C. Tyler’s series but the first of the novels that I have read. It is a quick and easy read, perfect for a reader who wants some light distraction.
The plot is classic with people marooned by a snowstorm and a murder taking place. The main characters are a writer and Elsie who is scouting for new talent. With the storm and no phone, the stakes are high. Ethelred and Elsie have their work cut out for them!

Trio is a rather rollicking 1960s set novel that details the lives of a number of characters who come together to work on a movie. Readers quickly begin to wonder if the movie can successfully be made as there are so many issues; some are the personal backstories of the characters, while others involve the theft of film, changes to scripts and more. There is a comic feel to much of what transpired but with some pathos underneath.
Following is a brief guide to some of the characters;
Talbot is a movie producer, married but with other proclivities. It is possible that his partner in movie making is ripping him off.
Rodrigo was known as Reggie but has aspirations for his image that lead to a name change. He is married to Elfrida but has a wandering eye.
Elfrida has written a couple of well received novels, only to then face writer’s block. Will she be able to write a novel about Virginia Woolf’s last day while she, our author, drinks to excess?
Anny and Troy are the stars of the movie. Anny’s ex is a wanted man and she may be implicated. Many of her partners have roles to play in the story.
Around the people, there are parties, theft, a cameo by Leonard Woolf and numerous subsidiary characters.
Is this book a satire? A series of character studies? A suspenseful read? Those who read this one, will each decide.
The cover of this title is appealing and invites the reader to engage. It is simple and colorful. I liked it very much.

This is the first novel in a new historical mystery series set in Britain during WWI. The premise centers on the formation of a new detective unit which includes both men and women. The two women are a doctor and a woman who took law courses but, since she was female, could not obtain a degree. The men are forward thinking officers of the law.
The story centers on the death of a returning soldier who may have been murdered by his wife. A lot is thrown into the mix including scenes set in upper class homes, hospitals and brothels.
This was an interesting book with characters who were quite likeable. I look forward to the next in this Mayfair 100 series.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the e-galley. The opinions are my own.
