Tony Hillerman’s daughter had her own dreams for one of the stars of his novels. Now she carries on the family tradition, with a few twists.

Out now: Buzz Book Fall/Winter 2023

I will simply say, take a look at this compendium as soon as you can. It is a terrific title that includes many lists of upcoming books. It also features a number of excerpts. Just a perfect resource for book lovers. AND FREE!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Buzz Books for this title. It is out now.
Can you decipher: The Twyford Code (by Janice Hallett)

I devoured this author’s first book, The Appeal. It was told in a series of documents, had a wide cast of characters and a terrific plot. I am happy to say that The Twyford Code is a most worthy successor to that title.
Once again, the author takes an idiosyncratic approach. This time much of the story is told through a series of audio tape transcripts. Some transcribed well, others less so, giving room for questions and ambiguity.
The book’s narrator has had a hard life, including time in prison. Understanding events from the past motivate the (unreliable?) narrator.
When he was younger, he was in a remedial reading class with some other students (who will be met in these pages). One day, Steve took a book that he found on the bus \, rather than turning it in. His teacher recognizes it and feels a connection, a strong one, to it. And so, things go from here.
Who was the author of this book? What was its significance? What happened to the teacher? Settle in for a satisfying read with this title as the story unfolds.
On another level, this book points to the glories of literacy. Reading opens worlds and nothing can replace that in my opinion.
In a starred review, Publishers Weekly observes: Filled with numerous clues, acrostics, and red herrings, this thrilling scavenger hunt for the truth is delightfully deceptive and thoroughly immersive.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Atria books for this title. All opinions are my own.

Now out: The Little Flower Shop

This is the second story to take place in a small town named Cemetery; I’m not sure about that name, but I am sure that this is an enjoyable read. This is the kind of book that readers come to knowing that they will get a dose of vicarious happiness by the end.
The main protagonists are Emily who is in her early 40s and a town bachelor named Saul. Emily runs a flower shop (a dream fantasy job for me), while Saul masters barbecuing.
As it turns out, Emily’s community wants more for her so they try to find “the one” for her. Will they succeed or will Emily find her own happy ending? Find out in this pretty delightful read.

It’s the season for: The Wedding Planner (by Danielle Steel)

#TheWeddingPlanner #NetGalley
Danielle Steel has written an astonishing number of novels and shows no signs of slowing down. Her readers want exactly what she offers and they will be very happy with this new novel in my opinion.
It is a bit of a trope, the wedding planner with her own tricky love life. This is the case for Faith Ferguson. Her services are clamored for even as she has not yet found her own happy ending. Will she finally find her person? Read this one to find out and along the way meet clients, those who help weddings to be special and follow along with some complicated wedding planning.
