Try to understand: ADHD and Your Marriage

Here is a book that will be of interest to its intended audience and also by those who know someone with ADHD. It offers, not only a description of the impact that ADHD can have, but also offers thoughts on ways to manage, cope and grow.

Many topics are covered; everything from ADHD symptoms to the impact of ADHD on the person diagnosed, to how to sustain a relationship that is a good one. There is a chapter, too, that is written for the partner without ADHD. Finally, I would say that that there is some pertinent relationship advice for everyone in these pages.

This book was written by someone with ADHD so the perspective feels most genuine. The author generously shares some of her history.

One drawback of this title, is that it can be general. It obviously will not be relevant to everyone with ADHD as people are not all the same. Still, take a look to see if it makes sense for you.

Many thanks to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this title. All opinions are my own.

Let’s order: Death and Croissants

A Novel

by Ian Moore

I definitely found the title and cover of this lighthearted mystery to be rather appealing. What could be better than a good story accompanied by the classic French breakfast?

I was not familiar with the author who is a British comedian. That explains the tone of the story. Here is a rather hapless hotel owner who gets sucked into an adventure by an exotic guest of his establishment. It becomes a bit crazy with even hints of the Mafia. How will it all get resolved? Read this one to find out. It is a book that shows what can happen when one ventures (way) out of a comfort zone.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this title. All opinions are my own.

One French Summer

Yesterday, I did a blog tour for this book. See the link below to view this. Today, I would like to share my review.

A blog tour: One French Summer

Review:

It is rather gloomy out on this February afternoon where I live. How nice it has been to escape to a story that is set in the warm and sunny days of summer. Plus, the novel takes place in France, one of my favorite countries.

Here is a book that will be enjoyed by fans of women’s fiction. Readers meet Katy, who may just be at a crossroads in her life. There have been changes at home and Katy is feeling them. What will happen when she spends some time away with her close friends? What will be awakened in her? How will her life change as a result? Find out in this delightful novel. It is a warm, lovely book and one filled with characters about whom readers will care.

Thanks again to Rachel’s Random Reads and the publisher for this opportunity.

The Devine Doughnut Shop

by Carolyn Brown

Carolyn Brown knows how to write women’s fiction that readers enjoy. Here she uses the familiar device of following of three characters lives and how they intersect with one another, in this case, though their shared ownership of a business.

Readers get to know Grace, Sarah and Macy. Each has a life with some issues. For example, Grace is trying to decipher coping with a teenager while Macy is planning her wedding. And, what is happening with Sarah and the doughnut shop itself? Read this one to find out.

While there is nothing that makes this title truly outstanding it does offer readers a comfortable and easy read. Those who enjoy family stories may want to take a look at this one.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Montlake for this title. All opinions are my own.

Shakespeare’s Tales: Othello

by Samantha Newman, Ceej Rowland

#ShakespearesTalesOthello #NetGalley

This publisher has issued many books for children that are based on the classics. This is an entry in their series of Shakespeare’s plays. The story of Othello is retold in modern, easy to follow prose. There are also short chapters and illustrations which make reading this a good introduction for kids. Hopefully, they will grow up to read the originals!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Arcturus Publishing for this title. All opinions are my own.
