What will happen to: Dear Edward by Ann Napolitano

I am not a person who loves flying so it was difficult for me to approach this title. It is the story of Edward who is the sole survivor of a plane crash. His parents and older brother are gone in an instant, leaving twelve year old Edward in a heartbreaking situation.
How Edward manages his survival and figures out how to live is the theme of this story. It will both make you cry and root for this (extra)ordinary young man.
Note: Readers get to know some of the passengers on the flight. It can make for hard reading knowing their fate.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group for this title. All opinions are my own.

It’s time to say: Hello, Summer
A Novel
by Mary Kay Andrews

Mary Kay Andrews knows how to tell a good story. She has given her readers many fun beach reads. This one is among her best.
In this long (over 450 page book) a lot happens as readers spend time with journalist Conley. She certainly experiences some ups and downs. They lead her back to her small hometown when she wanted to be a hotshot in DC. However, there she is. What is Hello Summer and what is Conley’s contribution to it? What will transpire after something happens to a congressman? Will there be romance in the storyline? Find out as you rapidly turn the pages in this title. I recommend it for those who want a fairly light yet involving read.

So many love these: Little Women – A Retelling
by Laura Wood

Little Women was the first classic that I ever read. It changed me as, up until then, I thought the term classic was synonymous with boring. To my surprise, I found the story of the four March girls to be completely absorbing. In fact, this is a novel that I have gone on to reread several times.
Here is a version of Little Women that has been gently simplified so as to be more accessible for those who may not be ready or able to deal with the original. The essence of Little Women is in these pages. Ms. Wood has given readers the key descriptions and episodes of the novel. She may even inspire some readers to go to the original.

You will love: Little Elephant
A Day in the Life of a Elephant Calf
by Anna Brett

The cover of this children’s book draws one right in. It is very sweet. Inside this title, the illustrations continue to be evocative and delightful. In addition, the text goes nicely with the visuals.
Here is a book that invites kids to learn more about elephants and their world. Adults may be surprised to learn that elephants have 22 month pregnancies. This is just one of the things that was learned in these pages.
Both adults and children will like this title. The end of the book includes lots of nice extras. All in all, highly recommended.
