Try it: Tastes Better From Scratch Cookbook

Easy Recipes for Everyday Life

by Lauren Allen

For those who want to cook but don’t want to be overwhelmed by complexity, this book is a nice resource. Inside are over 100 recipes, all of which are illustrated, and have easy to follow directions.

Inside are recipes for breakfast, a section on muffins and breads which is then followed by suggestions for dinners, soups, salads and sides, and desserts. A sample from each section: Easy Homemade Scones, Pumpkin Bread, Baked Ziti, Corn Chowder, Baked Potato Salad and Peach Cobbler.

There are q codes for additional help. I also like that at the top of the page for each recipe prep time, cook time, total time and recipe yield are all listed.

This book would make a great gift for someone just learning to cook, even if that person is you. There is enough here for weeks of cooking. The author is a mom of four so she knows the importance of getting those meals out. Those who use this book will meet all of the family.

Calm

100 Affirmations for Serenity

by Elicia Rose Trewick

#Calm #NetGalley

Calm, what a way to feel and a state that seems hard to find for many. This book of affirmations may just help. Take a few minutes each day to read a bit and enjoy the illustrations. The topics may be familiar but they still are helpful reminders of things to ponder and ways to live one’s life. There are four sections, Mindfulness, Calm & Ground, Release and Surrender. Each has good entries. I liked this collection that may be read in any order or just dipped into at random.

This is such a sweet book and one that has very cute illustrations. While it is geared to children, its lessons are for all of us. This title is filled with ways to show how to care for both others and ourselves. It is quite adorable and I recommend it. The illustrations will have its readers smiling.

It means a lot: Owen’s Day with Daddy

by Jerry Ruff

#clavispublishing #NetGalley

This is a lovely book for a child who is adjusting to being an older sibling. The importance of setting aside special time for the older one is the theme of this picture book.

Owen’s daddy is pretty busy. He is playing with the baby. Owen feels left out but…he gets his dad to agree that they will do three things together. Off they go to have a fun time away while Mom has the baby.

Read this book and enjoy the illustrations with that big brother or sister. Then try to do even more together. Adult and child will both benefit
