Thanks for your suggestions, Madame Writer. I go to Jane Austen as well. I think that I am going to retead some Mary Stewart. There are new digital versions with gorgeous covers. Will try Rhys Bowen as well.
Joyce's mystery and fiction book reviews with some non-fiction too!
Great reads for adults and children!

Mary Stewart’s Merlin series is one of my favorites, though I’ve read a couple of her gothic romances and they were hit or miss for me.

I enjoyed the Merlin books too! Two of my all time favorite books are The Once and Future King and The Mists of Avalon. Have you read both of these?
I do find Mary Stewart’s romantic suspense novels very easy reads and love them when I am feeling stressed. Not for everyone, I know.

I haven’t read those two. I’ll have to check them out. I did enjoy Mary Stewart’s Nine Coaches Waiting (the mystery was great, though the romance was rather shallow). So I don’t dislike all her romantic suspense: I just dislike some of them. But I’ll have to read more by her!

The Mists of Avalon is the story told from the point of view of the female characters. For The Once and Future King, I was a bit bogged down by the Sword and the Stone sections but was really glad that I kept going. I have read that book 2-3 times.
