My children’s lit professor asked each student to bring in a picture book today and tell what made it meaningful. This led me to think about some of my favorites. I hope that you will enjoy seeing them!

Blueberries for Sal was one of my favorites as a child, mostly because I related to the main characters (I loved eating blueberries). Most of these I remember reading growing up, especially Madeline. That is an amazing book for any age!

Madeline was my favourite too. In my family Rosie’s Walk by Pat Hutchins was a perennial favourite. In my library career I have read to many, many children over the years and found that you have to enjoy the picture book yourself to make it enjoyable for children.

I am about to look up Rosie’s Walk. I agree that if the reader enjoys the picture book, the child is more likely to as well. I love everything about reading picture books with children; fostering a love of reading and the closeness of sharing a book come immediately to mind.
