A good cozy: On Spine of Death by Tamara Berry

Poisoned Pen Press is one of my favorites. They just keep publishing good cozy mysteries (as well as titles of classic mysteries from the British Library). I always look forward to sitting down with one of their novels.

This book is the second in a series. A third entry will be published in spring 2023. Here Tess and her daughter are trying to open a bookshop in their community. Of course, things do not go according to plan. They find bones and need to learn whose they are, how they got there and why. Who was responsible? Worst of all, some suspect Tess’s family member.

Trust that all will be solved and that the process will be enjoyable for readers. I loved that Tess was an author and that a bookstore was viewed as important to a community. Since, I have not yet read the first book, I also enjoyed getting to know Sheriff Boyd.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this title. All opinions are my own.

“A prospective bookstore owner learns that renovations can be murder…juggling one snarky sheriff, one junior G-man, and three skeletons [attempts to overwhelm] Berry’s seasoned heroine.” ― Kirkus Reviews

“This cozy mystery zips along at a fast pace, filled with twists and turns and red herrings aplenty, with never a dull moment… With an entertaining mixture of humour and mystery, nonstop action and a cast of quirky characters, this will appeal to fans of fun, bookish cozy mysteries.” ― Mystery and Suspense

I love to read, recommend books and open the world of reading to others. I tutor to ensure that the next generation of readers will know the joys of a good book because their reading skills have improved. I am an avid reader, especially of mysteries and fiction. I believe that two of the world's greatest inventions were the public library and eyeglasses!
