I have read the first Viveca Sten novel and very much enjoyed it. The books were originally published in Sweden, have been translated into English and are now available in the U.S. Still Waters was an involving read in which I cared about the characters and the mystery. I read it a little while ago so here is the Goodreads summary
Still Waters
(Sandhamn #1)
,
On a hot July morning on Sweden’s idyllic vacation island of Sandhamn, a man takes his dog for a walk and makes a gruesome discovery: a body, tangled in fishing net, has washed ashore.
Police detective Thomas Andreasson is the first to arrive on the scene. Before long, he has identified the deceased as Krister Berggren, a bachelor from the mainland who has been missing for months. All signs point to an accident—until another brutalized corpse is found at the local bed-and-breakfast. But this time it is Berggren’s cousin, whom Thomas interviewed in Stockholm just days before.
As the island’s residents reel from the news, Thomas turns to his childhood friend, local lawyer Nora Linde. Together, they attempt to unravel the riddles left behind by these two mysterious outsiders—while trying to make sense of the difficult twists their own lives have taken since the shared summer days of their youth.

I look forward to reading all of the books in the series. Now is the ideal time for you to purchase them.
Every month I impatiently wait for news of new books in this series. This time I was delighted to see L.M. Montgomery as a subject. If anyone out there does not know, L.M. Montgomery wrote one of the (and my) most beloved childhood books, Anne of Green Gables. That story about an impulsive, loving young girl who brought new life to brother and sister, Matthew and Marilla, is full of the wonders of friendship, nature and life’s daily challenges. How did Miss Montgomery create the novel? This book explains that young Maud wrote a story of the childhood that she wished she had experienced. In doing so, she brought joy to countless children and the adults who read to them.

The Ruin is a first novel by an author who is Irish and currently living in Australia. Readers who know Tana French will think of her when they read Dervla McTiernan’s book.
This is a charming and delightful book! The illustrations are adorable and the rhyming text makes for a perfect read-aloud. This is also a counting book which offers even more fun to young listeners. There are children, a dog, adventures and a cold, snowy day. Perfect! Highly recommended!

I found this to be a very sweet board book for toddlers. The patch of blue from the child’s jeans is found in a series of colorful and appealing illustrations. For example, it becomes part of a sign, a ferris wheel, a stained glass window etc. This is a charming, wordless picture book.
This is a very hip alphabet book. It will be enjoyed by adults with a sense of humor as the double meaning of the word for each letter of the alphabet is given. Not for the traditional parent but there will be those out there who will find this to be fun. A vocabulary and definition list is provided at the end of the book.
This edition of this wonderful book is being offered for free today!
