Be careful with your cards: Duplicate Death by Georgette Heyer

Georgette Heyer is perhaps best known for her many Regency romances. Some, but not all, may know that Ms. Heyer also wrote a number of mysteries. Duplicate Death is the third title in her Inspector Hemingway series.

As can be deduced from this book’s title, bridge is part of the plot. Bridge players will enjoy this aspect of the story. Just imagine, the generally sedate world of bridge games, leading to two deaths. Is a young woman who is another character’s fiancee, the perpetrator?

This book comes from the Golden Age of mystery fiction. Some modern readers may find it a bit slow moving while others, I think, will enjoy it and go on to read the author’s other mysteries.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for this title. All opinions are my own.

This edition of this title was published in 2019.

I love to read, recommend books and open the world of reading to others. I tutor to ensure that the next generation of readers will know the joys of a good book because their reading skills have improved. I am an avid reader, especially of mysteries and fiction. I believe that two of the world's greatest inventions were the public library and eyeglasses!
